"What can I say about this hugely talented four piece but "wow". These guys have simply got to get signed by somebody. Driven on by the sensational, haunting voice of Annalise Spurr they reminded me all at once of PJ Harvey, Fairport Convention and even, admittedly a strange one, The Bangles."
Neil Skinner , Observer.
"I did really enjoy your set... One of the best bands I've seen at Club 85 in a long time! Keep in touch, it would be great to have you back."
Roger King promoter of Club 85 Hitchin
"You really have a fantastic voice and a great sound that seemed to go down really well with the crowd and great songs too - proper talent! Remember us when you're filling the O2 won't you !! :-) I hope you all enjoyed it too and might be willing to appear in future years if we have space."
Carol @ Rickmansworth Festival.
" Hi Guys, I just wanted to say a big thank you for playing at Night at the Abbey this year. I managed to catch a good chunk of your set and it was sounding excellent. I hope you sold a good number of CDs as I heard many people say they were really impressed by you guys."
James Stone (Event & Membership Coordinator) Re: Glastonbury Abbey gig-Night.
"Please send me MP3s for "Voices From The Lake" and "Turned to Stone" plus a band bio. Been a while since a group had that sound similar to Steeleye Span, Fotheringay, Renaissance and Fairport Convention. Like it a lot."
Radio WJFN-FM, Long Island, New York.
"It's still rocking when we get over to the other marquee, albeit with a less celtic edge, as Strange Folk take us through their 70's style riffs and enlighten us with their tales of mother earth. Fuelled by some of the best local ales we half expect to see Stonehenge as we emerge from the tent with their powerful vibe still ringing in our ears."
Spiral Earth review of Strange Folk at Ely Folk Festival
"Strange Folk produced one of the stand-out performances. The lead singer had the best voice of any of the heats so far, and the musicianship was flawless. Their Fleetwood Mac style sound looks set for big things."
Central Somerset Gazette.
"Should mention the band on before us too, Strange Folk - they had a really full sound for a 3-piece, and the singer sounded like a young Sandy Denny, a terrific voice... "
Billy in the Lowground, (Review of Keynsham Festival).
(Review of the Portrait EP)" All in all a wonderful showcase for a band with a great sound. Driven rock aspirations are tempered by more considered creative juices, not least the sometimes ethereal, sometimes rafter-raising vocals and the overall result is as stunning as it is clever. The musical building blocks may be familiar, but they are being re-constructed in an altogether new way. What more can you ask of a band?".

"Hey there Strange Folk!! A very big well done to you all! I thought that was a really brilliant top class performance! And although my only regret is that I couldn't be there for the whole performance (Had to be in 4 places at once) everything I heard and saw was excellent. Thank you so much for coming out and sharing your 'electric' vibes with us, a great time was had by all :) Annalise, I would have liked to thank you in person, but couldn't find you. I hope you enjoyed it as much as us :) Love and Gratitude James”
James, Gaunts House Festival
"Strange Folk's song, "Candles", was reviewed by Mike Mendoza and David Courtney: "...well structured... , ...good dynamics... , ...well thought-out rhythm..., ...haunting..."
Mike Mendoza, Mike Mendoza Show, TalkSport Radio.
" I was advised to go and see Strange Folk, and it was the best piece of advice I've had for some time. 'Let It Burn': what a number that is. Original, powerful and truely emotive. Their stage presence is strong. Talented and confident. They must crack it. The CDs were purchased and played all the way home. I want more."
Gary Lambert (Civic Centre Gig, Berkhamsted)
"We will rock you!
Yet another great night with Strange Folk at Magoos. This is rock with melody & meaning. You can keep the bands that are all "shake & rattle" - give me Strange Folk every time to add the "roll". Yes, there is a folk element, as the name suggests - but this is folk caught between rock and a hard place!"
Will (Magoo's, Berkhamsted)
"The "Party in the Park" festival at Galhampton in Somerset is not "Glastonbury" - but only in size, there are, however, the same idyllic surroundings. The headliners were Seth Lakeman (Mercury Prize finalist) and Hayseed Dixie (straight from the Appalachian Mountains). These guys had to be good - because Strange Folk were... I can't think of a suitable adjective to describe their performance. Awesome, yes; but this word is used too often these days. Superb, yes; but I'm thinking: "sensational"!The band grabbed the moment, and produced a outstanding performance. They then brought the house down (or trees) with their very own rendition of the Jimi Hendrix classic: "Hey Joe". Everyone was blown away!
Chris, (Galhampton, Party in the Park)
"First off just wanted to say I was almost dragged along to the fairy forest, but going because my wife thought the kids would like it. Well how wrong I was a great day was had made even better when I heard this amazing sound coming from the stage , my son and I were drawn in immediately!!!

Having been in bands and Been playing drums since I was eight it's making me want to get back into it all again . .
